BEIJING, Apr. 16 (Press Shia Agency) – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, had a telephone conversation about their nations’ bilateral ties and the situation in Syria and the Korean Peninsula, local media reported.
The two foreign ministers are committed to actively implement the consensus reached by the heads of State of the two countries on the development of bilateral ties and to prepare a series of high-level exchanges in the near future.
Both officials agreed that China and Russia enjoy strong mutual trust and that the two territories are ready to strengthen strategic coordination in regional and international affairs.
Concerning the situation in Syria, Wang considered that the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of that nation should be respected.
He also described as a priority the implementation of an independent, fair and professional investigation into the use of chemical weapons in that country.
In relation to the Korean Peninsula, Wang emphasized that avoiding war and chaos on that territory is in line with the common interests of China and Russia.
He stated that bringing all parties back to the negotiating table is the common goal of the two countries.
