Press Shia Agency – Hujjat al-Islam al-Safi, the representative of Ayatollah al-Sistani in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala, stressed upon the need to respect the laws of the country and not oppose them.
Press Shia Agency – During his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in the Iraqi city of Karbala’s Holy Shrine of Imam al-Husayn, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ahmad al-Safi emphasized the importance of obedience to the laws and the lack of opposition to it and said, “God Almighty stresses upon adherence to commitments, thus we must adhere to them.”
The representative of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani in Karbala added that when a self-respecting person concludes covenants and contracts with God, he remains committed and when he violates these commitments, they will meet a miserable destiny.
“The more obligations one has, the more responsibilities he also has,” he added.
Hujjat al-Islam al-Safi stressed that both divine laws and man-made laws must be clarified and must be respected and if a person does not respect the law, he does not respect himself.
He added that part of the law is punishable, either internally or externally and explained that internal punishment or self-regulation is the best form of punishment. “In the case when there is no internal punishment, external punishment or resorting to law enforcement is required,” he said.
The senior Iraqi scholar emphasized the need for patience over the tribulations and tragedies facing the people and said that patience over tragedy is a kind of training.
Hujjat al-Islam al-Safi pointed out that keeping money and hoarding it from the people is a crime and giving it to whom it does not belong to is also a crime.
he added that the value of wealth is in charity.
