TEHRAN, Apr. 23 (Press Shia Agency) – Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi expressed hope that Pakistan would take necessary steps in order to fulfill the Peace Pipeline.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Saturday.
“Suspension of Peace Pipeline, which plays an important role in the development of cooperation in the energy sphere, is not justifiable in current situation and we hope the Pakistani side would take necessary steps in this respect,” Boroujerdi said pointing to the important role of energy in the relations between the two countries.
Stating that Iran-Pakistan ties are influenced by the ancient and historical commonalities, Boroujerdi said that history confirms that the two nations have always stood alongside each other in difficult conditions and bilateral ties are unbreakable.
“Iran’s Parliament, specialized commissions including National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, will strongly support boosting relations with Pakistan,” he added.
Pointing to the crisis in Yemen as an ever-lasting injustice in the history of the region, Boroujerdi said that Pakistan’s proposal for military participation in Yemen war was registered as a revolutionary move by the country.
Ayaz Sadiq, for his part, pointing to the numerous capacities of the two countries for cooperation, called the realization of banking agreements and sisterhood deal between Chabahar and Gwadar as a significant step in line with using existing capacities in promoting bilateral ties.
He expressed hope that the two countries would be able to take advantage of all existing capacities, including trade, economic and educational cooperation.
“The cooperation between Iran and Pakistan in fighting terrorism is essential and the role of mutual work in establishing peace and security in the region is undeniable,” he noted.
