TEHRAN (Press Shia) – The fact that the historic deal on Iran’s nuclear program –the JCPOA- is still in the limelight after two years signifies that it has been founded on concrete bases in such a way that even the untrustworthy US government has refrained from scrapping it, Iran’s ambassador to Britain

In a Persian article posted on his social network account, Hamid Baeidinejad hailed the successful outcomes of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) two years after the nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) was achieved in July 2015.

The fact that the JCPOA is still drawing regional and international attention on the second anniversary of its achievement is a testimony to the firmness of the agreement’s fundamental principles, the diplomat explained.

Even the incumbent US president who had vowed to tear up the JCPOA before taking the office has failed to take any action against the deal and has had to honor the US government’s basic commitments to the accord, Baeidinejad added.

The main reason why Washington has had to follow the international community in honoring the JCPOA is the consistent policy adopted by all its allies, particularly the EU and the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, on the necessity to uphold the JCPOA, he added.

The ambassador, however, pointed to the hostile moves the US has taken to obstruct the implementation of the JCPOA, saying its conducts have discouraged major international companies and banks from working with Iran.

Iran and the six countries on July 14, 2015, reached a conclusion over the text of the JCPOA.

The 159-page accord took effect in January 2016 and was supposed to terminate all nuclear-related sanctions against Iran all at once, but its implementation has been hampered mainly due to US policies.

While many consider the JCPOA a major breakthrough in the improvement of ties between Iran and the West, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has repeatedly made it clear that Tehran’s policy toward the US will remain unchanged regardless of the nuclear deal.

In comments in June, the Leader called on an Iranian team monitoring the implementation of the JCPOA to make sure that Iran’s conditions in the accord will be entirely fulfilled.

The enemy is brazenly countering Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei warned, urging the officials involved in the implementation of the deal to remain vigilant, because the enemy would interpret any negligence as weakness and would behave more rudely.
