TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – The Yemeni army and Popular Committees, in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians by a coalition led by the Saudi regime, shelled the positions of Saudi-backed mercenaries in the central province of Baida, leaving a large group of them dead and injured.

A military source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Saba news agency on Sunday that the artillery unit of the Yemeni army pounded the militants’ positions with mortar rounds in al-Zaher district in Baidha.

Dozens of the militants were killed and injured during the bombardments.

The retaliatory attack came after Saudi warplanes launched three strikes on Bajel district in the western port city of Hudaydah, killing and injuring many civilians.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for more than two years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Over 12,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
