TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement and Hamas warned of the repercussions of the Israeli regime’s continued acts of aggression against Palestinians, warning that the tensions would spread to the entire Middle East region.
In a joint statement issued on Monday, Islamic Jihad Movement and Hamas pointed to recent Israeli attacks against al-Aqsa Mosque and said the sacred place is “a red line” and no one can remain silent on the issue.
No one should suppose that the Palestinian nation would abandon its sanctities, including the mosque, the two Palestinian groups said.
They called for an immediate end to the Israeli aggressions against the mosque.
The groups also underlined that the current tensions created by the Tel Aviv regime in the occupied territories would inflame the entire region.
The Israeli regime on Friday shut down al-Aqsa Mosque after a deadly shooting at the holy mosque’s compound in the Old City of occupied East Jerusalem al-Quds.
The gunfight took place just outside the Haram al-Sharif (Temple Mount) and left three Palestinians and two Israeli police officers dead.
Following the incident, the Israeli police closed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, briefly detained Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, the grand mufti of Jerusalem al-Quds, and canceled Muslim Friday prayers at the site.
