TEHRAN (Press Shia) – A spokesman for the Yemeni army warned the Saudi regime against its continued acts of aggression as the forces of the Arabian Peninsula country hit oil refineries in a port city in western Saudi Arabia with advanced homegrown ballistic missiles.
If the aggression on Yemen does not cease, the army will target the “vital areas” of Saudi Arabia, Brigadier General Aziz Rashid said on Sunday, according to the Arabic-language al-Masirah television network.
He further stressed the need to build strong deterrence against the Riyadh-led aggression.
The remarks came after the forces of the Yemeni army and popular committees, in a retaliatory attack, managed to hit oil refineries in Yanbu, a port city in western Saudi Arabia, with ballistic missiles dubbed “Borkan-2” (Volcano-2).
In the surprise attack launched late on Saturday, July 22, the domestically-made missiles hit Saudi targets accurately, according to local media reports.
The missile attack inflicted heavy damages on the Saudi oil refineries in Yanbu, the reports said.
The forces of the Arabian Peninsula country have already hit Saudi positions with various homegrown missiles, including “Qaher-1”, which has a range of 500 kilometers, and “Borkan-1”.
Since March 25, 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
Over 12,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
