TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani offered his congratulations to the Moroccan people and government over the National Day celebrated today in the North African country.

In a message to King Mohammed VI of Morocco on Sunday, President Rouhani felicitated the Throne Day, also known as Feast of the Throne, and expressed the hope that bilateral relations between Tehran and Rabat would develop more than ever through efforts made by the two countries’ officials.

He also wished health and success for King Mohammed VI and prosperity and happiness for the Moroccan people.

The Throne Day is a public holiday in Morocco that commemorates the enthronement of the incumbent monarch. Since 1999, it has been celebrated on July 30.

The current King Mohammed VI succeeded his father on July 23, 1999, and officially took the throne on July 30.

The Kingdom of Morocco is a constitutional monarchy. The head of state is the King of Morocco who holds vast legislative and executive powers.
