TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Syria’s army and its allies continued to make gains in their military campaign against Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists in Homs, managing to retake a number of key districts in the central province.

Syrian forces on Saturday established full control over a number of strategic areas in Manukh and north of al-Sukhnah in the eastern countryside of Homs after killing dozens of terrorists and destroying their equipment, SANA reported.

In a separate development, the army targeted the gathering centers of the Takfiri militants in the neighborhoods of al-Howeiqa and al-Rashdiyeh in the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor, killing and injuring a large group of them.

Syrian forces and artillery command units also inflicted heavy losses upon the Daesh terrorists in the areas of al-Hamidiyeh, Howeijet Saqer, al-Tibni, al-Shmaitiyeh, Aiyash, al-Kharita and al-Bhailiyeh.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh, currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
