TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Yemen’s army and popular committees launched a retaliatory attack on the positions of Saudi-backed mercenaries in Marib, killing at least six militants in the west-central province.
The militants’ gathering centers in the areas of al-Makhderah and al-Mater were targeted by Yemeni forces on Sunday, a military source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Saba news agency.
At least six pro-Saudi militants were killed in the attack.
In a separate development, scores of the militants were killed and injured in the Red Sea port city of Mokha in Taiz after they attempted to hit the army’s positions in the southwestern province.
The attacks by the Yemeni forces were carried out in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.
Since March 25, 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to Yemen’s fugitive former president.
According to Yemen’s Legal Center of Rights and Development, the Saudi campaign has claimed the lives of over 12,000 Yemenis and left more than 20,000 others wounded.
