TEHRAN, Sep. 13 (Press Shia Agency) – Recounting the dialogue between the Iranian ambassador to Thailand with Burmese officials, Ghasemi said that Iran has requested the Burmese to let an Iranian delegation of diplomats visit the country.
“By the end of the week, a delegation of Iranian diplomats headed by Deputy FM for Asia and Oceania will travel to Bangladesh to get among the refugees and have a field evaluation of the situation of the displaced people,” said Bahram Ghasemi, the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday.
“Iran’s ambassador to Thailand, who is also accredited to represent Iran in Myanmar, was ordered to immediately travel to Myanmar,” recounted the Iranian diplomat, referring to continuous efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran for resolving the issue of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. “The ambassador was tasked to deliver the stances of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Burmese officials,” said Mr. Ghasemi, “he met with Burmese foreign minister today and discussed the latest situation of Muslims in that country.”
“In addition to articulating the stances of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran called for an immediate halt to the humanitarian tragedy and the violence against the Muslims in that country,” noted the spokesman of Iran’s foreign ministry.
Mr. Ghasemi highlighted that the stances and approaches of the Islamic Republic of Iran about problems of, the violence against, and the war imposed upon the Muslims of Rohingya had been explicitly and openly delivered to the Burmese FM in that meeting. “We have underlined that continuing such a situation, considering the reports and accounts released by international entities and organizations will be of no benefit to Myanmar and will have dire consequences for the future of that country,” reiterated the Iranian diplomat.
“During the meeting, in addition to voicing our sorrow and regret over the death of hundreds of Muslims and forced displacement of more than 300,000 from the areas of conflict, we reminded the other side that the continuation of the current situation may give chance to extremists and other supporters of terrorism,” said the Iranian diplomat, “we called for shrewdness and initiative in resolving problems through dialogue.”
