TEHRAN, Sep. 18 (Press Shia Agency) – President Hassan Rouhani arrived in New York on Sunday in order to take part in the 72nd United Nations General Assembly.

Upon arrival at JFK Airport, President Rouhani was welcomed by the head of the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations and a number of Iranian diplomats.

During his stay, President Rouhani will attend the United Nations General Assembly and discuss the most important regional and international issues, as well as the upsetting conditions of Muslims in Myanmar.

Rouhani is also set to meet with the Secretary General of the United Nations and a number of heads of state.

Meeting with Iranian elites residing in the United States, religious leaders and clerics, American foreign policy elites, heads of American think tanks, and senior editors of international media and the press are among President Rouhani’s plans.

Speaking to reporters upon arrival at JFK Airport, Rouhani said, “the purpose of this visit is attending the United Nations General Assembly and delivering the Iranian nation’s voice to the world and describe the critical conditions of the region”.

“Today, we are faced with challenging conditions, especially in relation to the oppressed Muslims in Myanmar,” said Rouhani adding that he will have meetings with heads of state, elites, Muslim clerics, media specialists in the USA and also Iranians residing in the US.

He continued, “in a meeting with heads of countries around the world visiting from Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa, we will discuss development of cooperation between Tehran and these countries to serve the national interests of the Iranian nation”.

President Rouhani went on to say, “as the Leader said, our strategy is to have inclusive interaction with the world and this strategy can be easily implemented in international communities”.
