KABUL (Press Shia Agency) – A suicide bomber blew himself up near a Shiite mosque in the Afghan capital of Kabul on Friday, killing at least six worshippers and injuring 33 others.

According to Press Shia Agency dispatches, the terrorist attack targeted the Shiite mosque in Qala-e-Fathullah area of Kabul as worshippers were leaving the mosque after weekly Friday prayers.

The Afghan security forces, who had been deployed to the area following the explosion, blocked the streets near the area.

Six civilians have been killed and 33 others were injured in the suicide attack, according to local sources.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility but Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group have repeatedly targeted the minority Shiite community in the country.

There had been fears they would strike again as Shiites prepare to commemorate Ashura which falls this weekend and is the most important Shiite observance.

The suicide bombing came about a month after an hours-long attack on a Shiite mosque also in Kabul on August 25 killed at least 20 people and wounded dozens more.
