TEHRAN, Oct. 12 (Press Shia) – The Russia-NATO collaboration could be in jeopardy over the US’ recent moves to enhance its military presence in Europe.
According to Sputnik, “The United States is doing everything to push Russia to withdraw from the agreement. If such actions continue, we need to terminate the [Russia-NATO Founding] Act,” Frants Klintsevich, the first deputy chairman of the Russian upper house’s Committee on Defense and Security, said.

Earlier in the day, Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov stated that the United States de facto deployed almost an entire mechanized division in Poland and the Baltic region, in breach of the Founding Act.
Meanwhile, NATO has been boosting its military presence in Europe since the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis in 2014, claiming the moves were in response to Russia’s alleged interference in the conflict. In 2016, the Alliance decided to deploy four multinational battalions to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
