TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani voiced the country’s willingness to enhance ties with Algeria, expressing the hope for closer cooperation between the two countries in diverse fields.

In a message to his Algerian counterpart Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Wednesday, President Rouhani congratulated the North African nation on its Revolution Day.

Calling for efforts by Iranian and Algerian officials to tap into the capabilities of the two Muslim countries, Rouhani expressed the hope for the expansion of the relations and close cooperation in various arenas.

Algeria celebrates the anniversary of the Revolution Day on November 1 and commemorates the start of the war of independence against France.

On November 1, 1954, coordinated attacks by the National Liberation Front (FLN) against police and French military targets across Algeria triggered the Algerian War.
