TEHRAN, Nov. 01 (Press Shia Agency) – Receiving Azerbaijan republic’s president, Iran’s leader emphasized the necessity of the boosting of ties between two countries.
Iran’s Leader Ayatollah Khamenei received Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan Republic, on Wednesday in Tehran.
In this meeting, touching on the deep ties of the Iran and Azerbaijan Iran’s leader emphasized the necessity of the boosting of ties between two countries, said,” the close and brotherly relation of Iran and Azerbaijan faces some oppositions, two countries should resist against these temptations and destructive measures and with further determination try to develop their relation and cooperation in various fields.
Referring to the fact that the majority of the Azerbaijan population are the followers of the Holy prophet’s household like the population of Iran and Iraq, he asserted, “This opportunity and the glorious mourning ceremonies of Shias in Azerbaijan Republic should be seized because these can promote the identity of the nation and the country.”
The Iranian leader said the real reason behind the failure of the Soviet Union to promote communism in Azerbaijan Republic and eliminate religion was the strong faith of the people. He added,” the recent glorious Muharram ceremonies were the sign of strong faith of the Azerbaijani an people.”
President Ilham Aliyev also for his part said while he is in Iran he feels that he is in his own home. Referring to recent considerable promotion of cooperation between two countries, he added, “we are firm in our relation with Iran and we won’t let anyone to interfere in the relation of the two country.”
Pointing to some of the cooperation between two countries in the fields of culture, economy, investment, energy and transportation and his government’s efforts to build mosques, Aliyev said, “we are strengthening our economic and cultural relation with Iran and we are determined these relations be stable and lasting.”
Ilham Aliyev was the second president to be received by the Leader in Tehran as President Putin of Russia met with Ayatollah Khamenei an hour earlier.
President Putin of Russia and President Aliyev of Azerbaijan both arrived in Tehran on Wednesday to attend the trilateral meeting of Presidents of Iran, Russia, and Azerbaijan.
