TEHRAN, Nov. 04 (Press Shia) – Iran’s security chief Ali Shamkhani said Sat. that Washington’s use of failed sanctions regime against the Islamic Republic has long backfired and has no impact on the nation’s will for boosting defense power.
The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), Ali Shamkhani, made the remarks on Saturday in an address to the public on the occasion of the National Day in the Fight against Global Arrogance, which marks the anniversary of the November 4th takeover of the US embassy in Tehran in 1979.
“This year’s Nov. 4th has brought an even greater number of people to the streets in demonstration of their disapproval of US anti-Iran policies,” Shamkhani observed.
He noted the US overthrowing measures, military moves, opposition to Iran’s scientific progress, attempts to involve Iran in security crises, and provoking neighbors to cause trouble for Iran as a short list of many instances of Washington’s anti-Iran measures in past years.
“US moves had no outcome other than having to admit that Iran has become stronger,” he stressed.
Shamkhani then touched upon the issue of CAATSA – Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act, saying the sanctions have targeted Iran’s economy, nuclear program, and national capabilities.
“Despite the IAEA’s confirmation of Iran’s compliance under the JCPOA, and the whole world’s stress on the non-negotiability of the nuclear deal, American authorities are still talking about our missile and regional issues as if they can be negotiated,” he said.
Shamkhani further added, “the current stable situation in the Islamic Republic, as well as its security and regional influence are the result of the country’s efforts to turn threats into opportunities.”
