TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani offered his congratulations to Jacinda Ardern on her recent election as New Zealand Prime Minister.
In a message released on Monday evening, President Rouhani congratulated Ardern on her new post and expressed the hope that Tehran and Wellington would deepen bilateral ties in all areas.
The Iranian president also wished success and health for the New Zealand premier and prosperity of the people of the Pacific Ocean country.
At 37 years old, Ardern is New Zealand’s youngest leader in more than 150 years. She has been compared to other young, charismatic leaders such as President Emmanuel Macron in France and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Canada.
Her victory in New Zealand makes her the country's third female prime minister, after Jenny Shipley and Helen Clark.
