TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said the country’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will visit Armenia on Tuesday.

Heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, Zarif will leave Tehran for the Armenian capital of Yerevan on Tuesday, Qassemi said.

He noted that the visit will come at the official invitation of Armenian Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandyan.

The Iranian top diplomat will discuss bilateral ties and other issues of mutual interest in separate meetings with high-ranking Armenian officials including Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan and President Serzh Sargsyan, Qassemi added.

During the visit, Zarif will be accompanied by a delegation of businessmen from the country’s private sector, the spokesman further said.

In December, in a high-profile meeting in Yerevan attended by the presidents of the two countries, ranking officials from Iran and Armenia signed five documents, including an agreement on using a joint border crossing linking Iran’s Norduz to Armenia’s Meghri.
