YEREVAN, Nov. 28 (Press Shia) – Foreign ministers of Iran and Armenia, Javad Zarif and Eduard Nalbandyan, in a Tue. meeting in Yerevan stressed resolve for expanding cooperation in all fields, particularly in the economic sector.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in Yerevan at the official invitation of his Armenian counterpart, held a meeting with Eduard Nalbandyan on various bilateral and regional issues.
During the meeting on Tuesday, Zarif noted the historical ties between the countries, calling for expansion of relations in economic and political sectors as well as the holding of a joint economic commission.
Zarif highlighted the significance of the business forum held between Iranian and Armenian delegations following the meeting, saying that the private sector activities can further energize the two countries’ economic relations.
Cooperation in the fields of oil, gas, electricity, transit, facilitation of transport, removal of issues facing the two sides’ companies, as well as the increase of public relations were other topics of discussion raised by the Iranian diplomat.
The Armenian foreign minister, for his part, highlighted the growing cooperation between Iran and Armenia, and voiced Yerevan’s readiness to develop and deepen relations with Tehran in all fields of mutual interest, particularly in the economic sector.
Zarif who is in Yerevan at the head of a high-ranking political and economic delegation is also slated to hold talks with Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan and President Serzh Sargsyan.
