TEHRAN (Press Shia) – The secretary general of the Houthi Ansarullah movement described Yemenis’ resolve as “invincible” and pledged the Arabian Peninsula country’s continued resistance against the Saudi-led coalition’s aggression.
“Our nation tells the world that our determination will not be defeated, our patience will not end and our stability will continue,” Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi said in a speech on Thursday, according to the Arabic-language Al-Manar TV.
“The Yemeni nation is a nation that will never surrender to aggression, no matter how cruel it is,” he added.
He further pointed to the Saudi-led coalition’s blockade of all Yemeni air, sea and land ports and said the Sana’a government reserves its right to take action in case the blockade continues.
Earlier this month, the coalition closed all air, land and sea ports to Yemen, preventing humanitarian access to the country.
The blockade is likely to worsen a humanitarian crisis in Yemen that, according to the UN, has pushed some seven million people to the brink of famine and left nearly 900,000 infected with cholera.
Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for nearly three years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
Over 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
