Press Shia Agency – Hujjat al-Islam Ali Karbabadi referred to the poor state of health of Ayatollah Isa Qasim and insisted that the Al Saud and Al Khalifah regimes are seeking to end the life of the Bahraini spiritual leader.

Press Shia – In an interview Press Shia Agency News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Ali Karbabadi, a Bahraini activist and researcher, referred to the disadvantaged physical condition of Ayatollah Shaykh Isa Qasim, the spiritual leader of Bahrain’s oppressed Shi’ah majority and said, “As mentioned in some news reports, Ayatollah Ali Qasim is in a very bad physical condition. He has suffered from some diseases for a long time and needs serious treatment and needs specialist physicians to treat him. It has even been said that his weight has fallen to nearly thirty kilograms.”

The Bahraini cleric added that the physical condition of Ayatollah Qasim requires that he undergoes specialized medical treatment as soon as possible and several surgical procedures must be carried out on him but he still under house arrest and his house is also subject to strict security measures.

He said that the Al Khalifah regime and the ministry’s affiliated institutions are responsible for the protection of Ayatollah Qasim’s life. In fact, the Bahraini rulers seek to end the life of Ayatollah Qasim because they feel that he is a serious threat to their existence. Therefore, even the treatment of Ayatollah Qasim by authorities and physicians affiliated with the Al Khalifah regime threatens their lives.

Hujjat al-Islam Karbabadi described Ayatollah Qasim as the guarantor of protecting the security and the continuation of the peaceful revolution of the Bahraini people and warned against the consequences of any attack on the life or death of the Shi’ah leader of Bahrain and said, “God forbid, if something bad happens to Ayatollah Qasim, certainly the current conditions will not remain the same.

“The mere presence of Ayatollah Qasim guarantees the internal security and peacefulness of the popular revolution. For a long time, the Bahraini people have been extremely dissatisfied with thte Al Khalifah’s actions and tactics and have lost their patience against their brutal crimes,” he said.

The revolutionary cleric continued, “Given the current state facing Bahrain, if Ayatollah Qasim’s life is attacked be sure that the situation will go out of control and the internal crisis will become very severe and no one can predict what might happen in Bahrain with the death of Ayatollah Qasim. The peaceful revolution of the Bahraini people will continue as long as the life of the Bahraini Shi’ah leader is not violated. Any action taken to endanger the life of Ayatollah Qasim will be faced by the decisive response of the Bahraini people.”

In another part of his speech, Hujjat al-Islam Karbabadi explained the extent and objectives of the mass arrests and the trial of clerics, such as Hujjat al-Islam Shaykh Ali Salman, the Secretary-General of al-Wefaq National Islamic Society and said, “The Al Khalifah regime insists as Hujjat al-Islam Salman is accused with ‘spying for Qatar,’ he must be tried, although this trial lacks any legal and religious prerogatives because it is the defendant’s basic right to defend himself or hire a lawyer, but Hujjat al-Islam Salman is tried a trial which is far from the proper proceedings and the likelihood of a severe punishment against him is likely. The Al Khalifah regime is the executor of Saudi Arabia’s orders and because of the recent Saudi failures in the region, they are seeking revenge against the Bahraini people.”

The United Kingdom-based Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy (BIRD) says the health condition of Ayatollah Isa Qasim, who has been under a virtual house arrest since last year, has dramatically deteriorated in recent days, warning that he is in urgent need of medical treatment.
