TEHRAN, Dec. 05 (Press Shia Agency) – The 31st International Islamic Unity Conference has gone underway in Tehran, with 520 dignitaries, ministers, scholars, and university professors in attendance.
The three-day summit opened on Tuesday with a speech by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, and will wrap up on Dec. 7.
The aim of the Unity Conference is to lay the ground for unity and solidarity in the Islamic World in order to achieve proximity among their scientific and cultural viewpoints in terms of Islamic jurisprudence, principles of jurisprudence, Islamic theology, and interpretation.
Another objective of the Conference is to examine the Muslims’ issues, provide appropriate solutions to them, and take a joint stance against them.
This year, 520 guests have been selected from among sophisticated dignitaries, ministers of the Islamic countries, Islamic scholars and muftis, professors of universities and other scientific and cultural associations across the world.
The event includes 16 programs, 9 meetigns, and 22 speakers notable among whom are Ayatollah Mohsen Araki; Amsatou Sow Sidibe, Minister for Family and Women Affairs of Senegal; Dr Ahmad Badroddin Hasoon, Grand mufti of Syria; Ammar Hakim, Chairman of The Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq; and Nouri al-Maliki, Former Prime Minister of Iraq.
The conference is held annually on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PbuH).
