TEHRAN, Dec. 18 (Press Shia Agency) – The international community and the countries of the region should not permit Afghanistan become the new base for ISIL terrorists, says Iran’s Amir-Abdollahian.
“The international community and the countries of the region should not permit Afghanistan become the new base for ISIL terrorists,” says Iranian Parliament Speaker’s Aide on International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Monday.
The Iranian official made the remarks during his meeting with Afghan MP Davoud Kalkani who co-chairs the parliamentary friendship group of Iran and Afghanistan.
The former Iranian deputy foreign minister told the visiting Afghan law-maker that the historical and cultural commonalities of Iran and Afghanistan act as important asset for enhancing the level of bilateral relations.
“Unfortunately, US with its double-standard policies has increased the production of narcotics in Afghanistan and narcotics’ revenues are used for financing and resurrecting terrorists,” lamented the Iranian official. “However, the Islamic Republic of Iran is paying heavy financial and humanitarian costs in the war against narcotics,” he added.
“Trump’s new strategy in Afghanistan is vague, irresponsible, and divisive barring the formation of regional cooperation,” noted Mr. Amir-Abdollahian.
“The problem of Afghanistan does not have a political solution and the military presence of US and NATO does not contribute to improving the issue,” articulated the Iranian official.
Referring to the presence of Afghan refugees in Iran, Afghan MP offered gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran for broad cooperation and help in all areas.
Saying that there are vast areas of commonalities shared by Iran and Afghanistan in terms of religion, language, and culture, Mr. Kalkani affirmed the call for Iran’s help in the war on terror and highlighted that fighting terrorism is an international issue.
