TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri underlined that after the collapse of Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group in the Middle East, enemies are trying to create another sedition to weaken Iran’s regional influence.
Speaking at a gathering of commanders of the Iranian Army in Tehran on Tuesday, Major General Baqeri pointed to the latest developments in the region and said, “Today, we have passed through a hard time in the fight against Takfiri enemies and, thank God, we have managed to eliminate the enemies and the Takfiri groups from the region.”
“However,” he added, “This is not the end and, certainly, our enemies… will form another alliance, as we have seen up to now, to counteract the influence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region.”
“The influence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the West Asia region has jeopardized the position of the enemies of Islam and the (Islamic) Revolution, and they want to prevent this influence through stirring up sedition in the Islamic world,” the commander noted.
In recent years, the Middle East has been plagued with Takfiri terrorist groups like Daesh (ISIL or ISIS), which are believed to have been created and supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.
The terrorist groups, which claim to be Islamic but whose actions are anything but, have been committing heinous crimes not only against non-Muslims but mostly against Muslims in the region.
Iraq and Syria have been among the countries gripped by terrorism.
Iran, a close ally of the two countries, has supported their legitimate governments in their campaign against foreign-backed militancy and terrorism.
