TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (Press Shia Agency) – Iranian foreign minister, who arrived in Baku on Tuesday to attend trilateral meeting of foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey, and Azerbaijan, said that the three countries are pursuing counter-terrorism and economic cooperation.
Visiting the new building of Iran’s embassy in Baku, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the meeting, which is going to be held today on Wednesday, is the fifth trilateral meeting of the three foreign ministers after the fourth meeting in Iranian city of Ramsar in the northern Mazandaranprovince in April 2016.
He added that the holding of these meetings is a good initiative, because there are many areas for cooperation between the three countries.
With regard to the Wednesday’s meeting, Zarif said “the political consultations and business, economic and banking cooperation between the three countries are on the agenda.”
Zarif said he seized the opportunity to visit the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and they “reviewed the latest developments in bilateral relations.”
He reminded that this is his second trip to the Republic of Azerbaijan within a month, adding “this month the two countries’ presidents also met in Istanbul on the sidelines of the Islamic countries summit.”
