Trump slams attack on Saudi Arabia

TEHRAN, Dec. 21 (Press Shia Agency) – Accusing Iran of missile attacks on Saudi Arabia, President Donald Trump “expressed solidarity” with Saudi Arabia Wednesday following a missile attack targeting the official residence of King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, the White House said.

Houthis carried out a missile attack on Riyadh on Tuesday, targeting the capital’s al-Yamama royal palace, which houses the king’s offices.

In a readout of Trump’s call with Salman, the White House as usual accused Iran and said the attack was “enabled by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps”.

“King Salman updated President Trump on the situation ,” the White House said.

Yemen has remained dogged by violence and chaos since 2014, when the Houthis overran much of the country, including the capital Sanaa.

The conflict escalated one year later after Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies launched a massive air campaign aimed at rolling back Houthi’s gains and shoring up Yemen’s Saudi-backed puppet government.

The Saudi-led coalition has imposed a biting economic blockade on the country, worsening an already dire humanitarian crisis there.

Showing some components of missile,Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, claimed last Thursday that the international body has obtained “undeniable” evidence that Iran supplied Yemeni insurgents with missiles and other arms.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the country will use the capacity of UN Security Council to pursue the unfounded allegations made by US about the origin of a missile fired at Saudi Arabia from Yemen, adding “we voiced our protest at yesterday’s UN session, and will continue our probing into the matter in the next UN sessions, as well.”
