TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy maintains such military dominance over the Persian Gulf that it has already captured forces from the US, Britain, Canada and Australia in the maritime zone, which must exclude outsiders, a senior commander of the IRGC Navy said.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a large-scale military parade in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas on Wednesday, Lieutenant Commander of the IRGC Navy General Ali Reza Tangsiri said the IRGC forces have captured American, British, Canadian and Australian forces in the Persian Gulf in the past, describing it as a testimony to the IRGC’s might and defensive power.
“We regard the Persian Gulf as our home, and believe that no alien (forces) should be present in this region,” he added.
The commander underlined that Iran seeks security in the region, noting that joint war games with regional countries would contribute to the Persian Gulf’s security and unity.
Back in May, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei hammered the US for its schemes against Iran’s military presence in the Persian Gulf and made it clear that the Islamic Republic will continue to demonstrate power at its home, the Persian Gulf.
“The Persian Gulf is the Iranian nation’s home …, and the coasts of the Persian Gulf and large parts of the Sea of Oman coasts belong to this strong nation,” Imam Khamenei said at the time, adding, “Today, the enemies are biting off more than they can chew. For example, they draw plans that Iran should not hold military war games in the Persian Gulf.”
