TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is in the Czech Republic to hold talks with the Eastern European country’s senior officials.
Zarif arrived in Prague on Thursday night and is scheduled to meet with Czech officials, including his counterpart Lubomir Zaoralek, on Friday for talks on bilateral ties as well as international and regional developments.
The trip to the Czech Republic is part of a tour of Eastern Europe, which earlier took him to Romania and Slovakia.
On Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said that Tehran and Prague are going to upgrade diplomatic ties to the ambassador level.
He added that the charges d’affaires of the two countries have been proposed for the position of ambassador.
In September 2015, Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek paid an official visit to Iran with a big business delegation and held meetings with top Iranian officials.
