TEHRAN, Jan. 22 (Press Shia) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi has strongly denounced the armed attack and hostage taking in Kabul’s Continental Hotel which left tens of innocent civilians dead and wounded.

In a Sunday statement, Ghasemi expressed regret over the brutal terrorist attack in Kabul, which at least 18 people were confirmed to have been killed, including four Afghans and 14 foreigners, and offered sympathy to the Afghan nation and government, and the families of the victims.

“It goes without saying that those who have used coercion and violence for their own gain in Kabul should learn from the fate of the Takfiri terrorism in the region over the past recent months.”

Four gunmen stormed the heavily-guarded hotel located on a hilltop in the Bagh-e Bala area late on Saturday setting off a gun battle with security forces that continued into Sunday morning.
