TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Syria’s army and its allies thwarted a major attack by Daesh terrorists in Deir ez-Zor, killing more than 25 militants in the eastern province.
Late on Thursday, Syrian troops inflicted major losses on Daesh after they attempted to sneak into the areas of al-Kishma and Ghriba and target the army’s military posts, SANA reported.
More than 25 militants lost their lives during the counterattack.
Syria is in the final stages of a battle against Takfiri terrorist groups that poured into the Arab country after the outbreak of the civil war in 2011.
On November 19, the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group was flushed out of its last stronghold in Syria’s Al-Bukamal. The city’s liberation marked an end to the group’s self-proclaimed caliphate it had declared in 2014.
