Press Shia Agency – Hujjat al-Islam Qawouq emphasized that the embassies in the United States, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are plotting against Lebanon’s upcoming parliamentary elections and are seeking to undermine the country’s national unity.
Press Shia Agency – Speaking at a ceremony held at the husayniyah of the southern Lebanese village of al-Zararieh, Hujjat al-Islam Nabil Qawouq, the vice-president of the Executive Council of Hezbollah, referred to Zionist regime’s claim of ownership over the Block Nine field of offshore natural gas said, “Lebanon is now witnessing a real war against its oil wealth and protecting Block Nine is a national issue and there must not be any leniency or deficiency in this regard.”
The Lebanese Shi’ah cleric said, “This issue is important for all issues related to the parliamentary elections and internal disputes because Lebanon’s dignity and sovereignty are taken into account and there is no difference between a piece of Lebanese territory or a oil pipeline,” he added.
He insisted that Lebanon must not wait for the United Nations Security Council, the Arab League or the “Operation Decisive Storm” (the name of the Saudi Arabian-led coalition attacking Yemen) to support its sovereignty and oil wealth because the Islamic Resistance (Hezbollah) knows its national duty is to cooperate with the Lebanese armed forces.
Hujjat al-Islam Qawouq said, “Lebanon is in a strong fortress and before every action is taken, the Zionist regime thinks thousands of times about an attack on Lebanon. Lebanon will stand with the Islamic Resistance and the armed forces with power against the Zionists.”
Referring to the growing strength of the Islamic Resistance, His Eminence continued, “The power of the Islamic Resistance is the basis of Lebanon’s political positions and with the equation of resistance, we can support oil wealth and take full advantage of our Zionist enemies.”
He called for much greater resistance against Israel than during the 2006 33-Day War and stressed, “We remind the Zionists that the Lebanese are in agreement on national unity and stand united against the Zionist enemies.”
The member of the Central Council of Hezbollah said, “We will be present in the spirit of protecting the stability and consolidating national unity in the parliamentary elections. In a coalition with the Amal Movement, Hezbollah does not seek to reach the majority but wants to support national options.”
Hujjat al-Islam Qawouq added that American, Saudi and Emirati embassies are shouting in alarm over Hezbollah’s domination of the Lebanese parliament to position the Lebanese people against each other and to violate Lebanon’s sovereignty. This is a great danger to the election.
Lebanon’s first parliamentary elections in eight years are scheduled to be held on May 6.
