TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Extension of anti-Iran sanctions by the US equals a breach of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a top Iranian security official warned, unveiling plans for the rapid implementation of a package of measures by Iran in retaliation.

“If they (US) extend the sanctions, it will be tantamount to the annulment of the JCPOA, while we will in return carry out a prepared technical package immediately,” Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said at a cultural ceremony on Tuesday.

Highlighting Iran’s great missile power, peaceful nuclear capabilities, and increasing national solidarity, he underlined that election of different officials in the other countries would not affect Iran’s policies.

Shamkhani also warned the White House leaders that they cannot talk about “tearing the JCPOA” or relaunching negotiations with Iran anymore.

His comments came hours before US lawmakers passed a bill renewing sanctions on Iran for 10 years. The House of Representatives voted 419 to one for a 10-year reauthorization of the Iran Sanctions Act, or ISA, a law first adopted in 1996 to punish investments in Iran's energy industry.

While the JCPOA, a 159-page nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), came into force in January, some Iranian officials complain about the US failure to fully implement the accord.

Back in March, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said Americans have yet to fulfill what they were supposed to do as per the nuclear deal.

Iran still has problems in its banking transactions or in restoring its frozen assets, because Western countries and those involved in such processes are afraid of Americans, the Leader said at the time, criticizing the US for its moves to prevent Iran from taking advantage of the sanctions removal.
