TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said insecurity in Iraq means an insecure region, stressing Tehran’s readiness to continue helping Baghdad in its efforts to re-establish peace and stability in the Arab country.

“Insecurity in Iraq is insecurity in the region,” he said Wednesday in a meeting in Tehran with Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, the first Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will spare no help to establish security and peace in Iraq,” Larijani stressed.

He added that Iran’s policy is supporting Iraq’s territorial integrity and helping to enhance unity and unanimity among all Iraqi political groups, including Shia, Sunni and Kurdish.

He also hailed recent victories made by the Iraqi troops and volunteer forces against terrorists and hoped for their final victory against terrorism.

Larijani further referred to fanning sectarian discord as the main threat to stability and security in the Muslim world and called for boosting unity among Iraqi people.

Sheikh Hamoudi, for his part, appreciated Iran’s all-out support for the Arab country.

He described terrorism as the main challenge facing Iraq and underlined that Iraqi officials are determined to overcome the threat of terrorism.

The Iraqi forces have made great victories against the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group in recent weeks and are now heading toward the final liberation of the northern city of Mosul from Daesh terrorists.

The key city of Mosul fell into the hands of the Takfiri group in June 2014.
