TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Syria’s army, backed by volunteer forces, continued to make gains in its military campaign against Takfiri groups across the Arab country, leaving large groups of them dead and injured.

On Sunday, Syrian forces targeted Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) military posts in al-Jafra area, southeast of the city of Deir ez-Zor, killing and injuring dozens of them, the official SANA news agency reported.

The army troops also managed to destroy three vehicles belonging to the militants during the clashes.

Elsewhere in the city, the Syrian forces launched an attack against the Takfiri group in Hweijet Saker, and killed large groups of them.

In Aleppo, the army troops hit an SUV car in Deir Hafer area, located in eastern countryside of the embattled northwestern province, killing at least 17 Daesh terrorists.

Separately, the Syrian government forces and their allies targeted the ISIL terrorist group’s military posts in al-Qaryatain area in the eastern countryside of Homs central province, killing a number of the terrorists and destroying two of their vehicles equipped with heavy machine guns.

Since March 2011, Syria has been hit by militancy and terrorism backed by Western states and their regional allies.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
