TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Turkmen counterpart Rasit Meredow held talks on the sidelines of an Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) ministerial meeting in Tajikistan.
The top Iranian and Turkmen diplomats, who are in Dushanbe for a meeting of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers (COM), met on Tuesday for talks on various issues.
In the meeting, Zarif and Meredow discussed Tehran-Ashgabat bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.
The two ministers also talked about the ways to carry out the agreements reached between the two neighbors during a March visit to Turkmenistan by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
Last month, the Iranian president paid an official visit to Ashgabat at the invitation of his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. During the trip, the two sides signed a number of bilateral agreements to enhance ties.
