TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Iranian military watercraft partook in a naval parade off the southern port of Bandar Abbas on Wednesday morning to celebrate the National Army Day.
The Iranian warships and submarines cruised near the strategic strait of Hormuz to mark the occasion along with Army units elsewhere in the country.
The parade in the Persian Gulf involved various naval watercraft, such as warships, destroyers, frigates, corvettes, speedboats, and submarines.
Wednesday’s military parades across Iran saw units from the Ground Force, Navy, Air Force and Air Defense Force displaying their missiles, tanks, armored vehicles, rifles, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), fighter jets, radar systems and air defense missile systems.
National Army Day was included in the Iranian calendar after a historic letter from late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini in April 1979, in which he voiced strong support for the Army and ordered Army troops to hold massive parades across the country on April 18 every year to express their combat readiness.
The historic decision by Imam Khomeini came after a hostile propaganda for undermining the Army after its successful missions in quelling riots and separatist moves in Turkmen Sahra in northeast, Kurdistan in west, and West Azerbaijan in northwest of Iran.
