TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Gholam Hossein Dehqani participated in an international conference hosted by the Tajik government about ways to fight against terrorism and prevent extremism.
Dehqani delivered a speech at the two-day conference entitled “Countering Terrorism and Preventing Violent Extremism”, which concluded in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe on Friday.
The conference was organized by the government of Tajikistan in cooperation with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the United Nations, and the European Union.
In his speech, the Iranian diplomat highlighted the Islamic Republic’s achievements in the campaign against terrorism and called for closer international cooperation to fight against the phenomenon.
During his two-day visit to Tajikistan, Dehqani also held talks with senior Tajik offcials, including Foreign Minister Sirodjidin Aslov, exchanging views about a range of issues, including ways to promote the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Last month, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif paid an official visit to Tajikistan to attend the 23rd Meeting of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Zarif held talks with the Central Asian country's President Emomali Rahmon about bilateral, regional and international issues.
