TEHRAN, May 09 (Press Shia) – A day after United States announced it is withdrawing from the nuclear deal with Iran, Iranian Interior Minister Rahmani Fazli said Iran should conduct negotiations with the Europeans.
“Iran should enter negotiations with Europeans in a certain period of time and if it feels that their behavior is within the framework of the positions they are taking, it should continue its relations [with them,]” said Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday a day after the United States announced it will pull out of the nuclear deal with Iran.
The Iranian Interior reiterated Iran’s position that missile program is non-negotiable.
So far, different Iranian officials including President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif have announced that Iran will stay in the nuclear deal even after the US exit and will work with other parties to it as it seeks constructive relations with the world.
President Rouhani said on Tuesday as well as Monday before Donald Trump’s announcement that Iran seeks “constructive relations” with the world and will remain committed to the JCPOA, calling the JCPOA without the US a “better agreement.”
Foreign Minister Zarif also tweeted shortly after Trump’s announcement that he will “spearhead a diplomatic effort to examine whether remaining JCPOA participants can ensure its full benefits for Iran.”
