TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohamad in a telephone conversation called for boosting the economic and trade ties between the two Muslim nations, and discussed joint efforts in the fight against terrorism and promoting peace.

In the phone call on Thursday, Rouhani congratulated the Malaysian prime minister on his recent election to the post, expressing the hope for the enhancement of bilateral relations in various fields.

He also highlighted the suitable investment opportunities available in Iran for Malaysian companies, saying Tehran is resolved to broaden its political, economic and cultural ties with Kuala Lumpur.

Stressing the need for mutual cooperation to promote regional and international peace and stability and to fight against terrorism and extremism, Rouhani said Iran and Malaysia can portray the real image of Islam to the world.

For his part, Mahathir Bin Mohamad said Malaysia seeks to boost its relations with Iran in all areas, calling for closer cooperation between the private sectors and economic activists of the two countries in the industrial sector, science and technology, automotive industry, health care, and medical fields.

Hailing Iran’s policy of interaction with the world, the Malaysian leader said his country is ready for cooperation with the Islamic Republic in fighting terrorism and extremism.
