DAMASCUS (Press Shia) – Dozens of Syrian civilians were killed and injured in rocket attacks carried out by Takfiri militants for a third successive day in the towns of Nubl and Zahra near Aleppo as the Syrian army is making huge gains on the ground in northwestern Aleppo province.
Angered by the Syrian army’s major victories in various battlefields across the Arab country, Aleppo in particular, Takfiri militants targeted civilian areas in the Shiite-populated towns of Nubl and Zahra with Grad missiles, killing and injuring scores of people, including women and children, according to Press Shia dispatches.
The Syrian government forces, who are in full control of western Aleppo, have been conducting operations to purge militants from the city’s east.
Separately, the terrorists shelled the villages of Foua and Kefraya near Syria’s northwestern city of Idlib, and claimed the lives of a number of people.
Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.
According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
