TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Pilotless combat aircraft of the Yemeni Army hit telecommunication gear belonging to the Saudi-led military forces along Yemen’s western coast.

A source in the Yemeni Army’s Drone Unit said the unmanned aerial vehicles have launched several attacks on the Saudi-led coalition’s telecommunication system on the west coast, Al-Masira satellite television reported.

Yemen’s Army and the committees of popular forces have recently established the Drone Unit to fight off the Saudi-led mercenaries more effectively.

The first drone strike by the Yemeni forces occurred on July 5, when the remote-controlled aircraft attacked the headquarters of the Saudi-led coalition in the city of Aden.

Yemen’s fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, an ally of Riyadh, calls Aden the capital of his self-proclaimed government.

Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been waging a war against Yemen since early 2015.

They have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in Yemen in an attempt to restore power to Hadi.

Over 14,000 Yemenis, including women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
