TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Most of the militant groups operating in Idlib have united forces and formed a new operations room to fend off any possible attack by the Syrian army on the northwestern province, a report said.

More than 70,000 militants in Idlib will fight under the command of the new operations room, reports by opposition groups outlets said.

The new operations room will include Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the Syrian Liberation Front (SLF) and the National Front for Liberation (NFL). Furthermore, al-Qaeda-affiliated groups such as the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) and Horas al-Din will work under the operations room.

Recently, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said Syrian forces had turned their focus on Idlib, noting that liberation of the northwestern province is one of the military’s priorities.

"Now Idlib is our goal," Assad told Russian media outlets on Thursday.

The province holds the largest concentrations of Takfiri terrorists, who have fled there from ongoing liberation operations by the country and its allies, including Russia.
