TEHRAN, Dec. 10 (Press Shia) – Israeli settlement building is in dire contrast to the principles and regulations accepted by the international community, said Bahram Ghasemi, the spokesman of Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Friday.

Bahram Ghasemi, the spokesman of Iran’s Foreign Ministry categorically condemned the new bill to retroactively legalize settler homes in the occupied land of the West Bank in Palestine.

“The identity of the Zionist regime is illegitimate and based on occupying the Palestinian lands,” asserted the Iranian diplomat, “and settlement building by this regime is the blatant infringement of the internationally accepted law and regulation including the international human rights and humanitarian rights. The commissioners and agents of these measures have clearly and massively violated the international law and should be sued by the legal entities.”

“Settlement building is a serious impediment to the realization of the Palestinians’ right of sovereignty,” highlighted the spokesman of the foreign ministry, “as this right is one of the generally-applicable international principles, all governments and international entities are obliged to utilize all the instruments required to force the Israeli regime to conform to the international laws and regulations.”

He urged all governments, the UN, and international institutions of relevant concern to not be content with verbal condemnation of no action and, with immediate practical measures, halt the running string of the Israeli anti-human and illegal activities and stop the building of new settlements in Palestine.

Israel has built more than 230 settlements on occupied land in the West Bank and East Jerusalem over the past half-century.
