TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Kamal Kharrazi reiterated Tehran’s policy on counter-terrorism and said the country will continue its support for stability and peace in the West Asia region.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Tehran Security Conference on Sunday, Kharrazi described the Islamic Republic as a key contributor to regional security and said Iran will spare no efforts to promote peace in the region.

“We, as the Islamic Republic of Iran, have been seeking security in the region and our stance in the region is based on stability and security,” he said.

Kharrazi, formerly Iran’s foreign minister, further warned that certain countries are after insecurity in West Asia and support terrorist groups in the region.

Iran, however, will resist against terrorists with the aim of defending regional stability and security, he went on to say.

Attended by top Iranian officials and foreign participants, the Tehran Security Conference kicked off in the capital on Sunday.
