TEHRAN (Press Shia) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif pledged support for Iraq in its efforts to establish security, describing the Arab country’s security as that of Iran.
Iran will provide the government and nation of Iraq with every aid and facility available to help the neighboring country establish stability and security, Zarif said Monday in a meeting in Tehran with leader of Iraq’s National Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim.
All Iraqi tribes and groups should take steps on this path, too, the Iranian top diplomat stressed.
He also described the relations between Tehran and Baghdad as very good and said the ties should turn into an example for the region.
Elsewhere, Zarif hailed the political and military successes of Iraq and praised the National Alliance’s proposed national reconciliation plan as very significant for the future of Iraq.
During the meeting, Hakim elaborated on Iraq’s political situation and conditions in battlefields of war against the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group and thanked Iran for its support for the Iraqi people and government.
