TEHRAN (Press Shia) – The Yemeni army forces, backed by allied fighters from Popular Committees, fired at least five short-range domestically-manufactured missiles at Saudi gatherings in the kingdom’s Asir region, in retaliation for the regime’s campaign against the impoverished country.

Saba news agency, citing a military source, reported that the Zelzal-1 missiles, with an average range of 150 kilometers, were launched against Saudi camps west of al-Majazah area and near al-Alab border crossing in Asir region.

The missiles hit their targets accurately, causing heavy losses on the Saudi troops, the official said.

The army forces were able to pound and retake several Saudi military sites in Majaza area after heavy clashes with them in the retaliatory operation.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for more than three years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

The Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights announced in a statement on March 25 that the war had left 600,000 civilians dead and injured until then. The war and the accompanying blockade have also caused famine across Yemen.
