TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday dismissed the remarks by the US President Donald Trump about collapse of the Islamic Repubic in the coming months due to American sanctions, calling it a dream that will never come true.

Addressing a large congregation of Basij (volunteer) forces at Tehran's Azadi Stadium on Thursday, Ayatollah Khamenei dismissed Donald Trump’s claims about effectiveness of the anti-Iran sanctions.

“I had recently heard that the president of the United States (Donald Trump) told some of the European leaders to wait for 2-3 months, the Islamic Republic will be finished. Then I remembered the same words that, 40 years ago, those who were the servants of the United States inside the country were telling themselves. They used to say we would be finished in 6 months but it didn’t happen, and 40 years has passed since those days and that thin sapling (the Islamic Republic) has become a strong tree, I remembered the folk poetry that says, the camel dreams of cotton-wool (the hungry cat dreams of mice) … " Ayatollah Khamenei said.
