TEHRAN (Press Shia Agency) – A huge explosion tore through a restaurant in the northern Japanese city of Sapporo on Sunday evening, injuring at least 42 people.
One of those injured is said to be in a serious condition.
The blast and subsequent fire caused nearby buildings to collapse, with emergency services rushing to the scene and warning that the number of injuries could still rise.
The cause of the incident, which happened at around 20:30 local time (11:30 GMT), remains unknown, although a gas leak is suspected.
The area where the explosion occurred is located about 50 meters from a metro station. It is home to many popular eateries, bars, and shops.
