Clashes broke out on the edge of the northwestern Idlib province as the militants attempted to move towards Syrian military posts in Kafr Zeita in Hama, SANA reported on Thursday.

Scores of the militants lost their lives during the retaliatory raids, the report added.

The village, where the clashes broke out, is located in a planned buffer zone, which surrounds Idlib and also parts of the adjacent provinces of Aleppo and Hama.

The army troops also thwarted terrorists’ attempt to sneak into the outskirts of Ma’rkebeh town in Hama northern countryside, leaving many of them killed or injured.

Under a deal reached following a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in September, all militants should have withdrawn from the demilitarization zone by October 15.

The reporter added that army units also thwarted terrorist groups’ attempt to sneak towards the outskirts of Ma’rkebeh town in Hama northern countryside, leaving its members killed or injured
